About

My name is Brittany Kennedy, and my work is rooted in nostalgia, shadow, and quiet mystery. My current works are created using oil pastel or oil paint to give an impressionistic style and feel.

I am drawn to antiques and thrifting objects marked by time, carrying stories that linger just beneath the surface. Old portraits deeply inspire me, especially the way dramatic lighting can give a subject an almost spectral presence. However, landscapes have recently become more prevalent in my work. My love for lighting combined with my spooky side has heavily influenced my work. A series of lanterns and lighting has been in the making for a few months now.

I am originally from Michigan, where I began painting as a young girl alongside my Grandma Jo. She is an extremely talented oil painter who taught me everything I know and also gifted me my first set of Prisma colored pencils over 18 years ago.

Those early moments filled with love, patience, and a sense of the past still impact my work today. Through my art, I explore memory, atmosphere, and the beauty found in what is worn, forgotten, imperfect, and maybe a bit haunted.
